Microscope Slide Preparation Steps
Blood Smear Preparation:
- Clean the slide with alcohol
- Place a small drop of blood near one end
- Use a spreader slide at 30-45° angle to create a thin film
- Air dry the smear
- Apply stain (e.g., Wright's stain)
- Add cover slip and examine under microscope
Epidermal Cell Preparation:
- Clean the slide
- Gently scrape inside of cheek with a toothpick
- Spread the sample on the slide
- Fix with methanol or heat
- Stain with methylene blue
- Add cover slip and examine
