Geometric Progression (GP) Model – Matchstick patterns or coins.

Geometric Progression Game

Geometric Progression Game

Complete the geometric progression by building matchstick patterns. Each term should follow the rule: multiply the previous term by the common ratio.

Common Ratio: 2
Build the first 5 terms with ratio = 2
Game Rules:

Click on matchstick figures to increase their size. Each figure should have 'common ratio' times more matchsticks than the previous one.

Understanding Geometric Progression

Key Concepts:

Geometric Progression (GP) is a sequence where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous term by a constant called the common ratio (r).

  • General form: a, ar, ar², ar³, ..., arⁿ⁻¹
  • n-th term: aₙ = a × rⁿ⁻¹
  • Sum of first n terms: Sₙ = a(1 - rⁿ)/(1 - r) when r ≠ 1
Game Strategy:

Watch the pattern grow exponentially. With ratio=2: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16... With ratio=3: 1, 3, 9, 27, 81... Each level increases the challenge!
