The Science Behind pH Indicators
Key Concepts:
pH scale measures how acidic or basic a solution is (0-14):
- Acids (pH < 7): Turn cabbage juice red/pink
- Neutral (pH = 7): Purple/blue
- Bases (pH > 7): Green/yellow
Why Red Cabbage?
Red cabbage contains anthocyanins, pigments that change structure (and color) based on pH. This makes it a perfect natural pH indicator!
