Learning About Shapes and Spaces
Basic Shapes:
We use shapes to describe objects in our world. Here are some common shapes:
| Shape | Description | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Circle | Round shape with no corners | Wheels, plates, coins |
| Square | Four equal sides and four right angles | Windows, tiles, boxes |
| Triangle | Three sides and three angles | Pyramids, slices of pizza, road signs |
| Rectangle | Four sides with opposite sides equal | Doors, books, smartphones |
Position Words:
We use position words to describe where things are located:
- Above - higher than something else
- Below - lower than something else
- In front of - closer to the viewer
- Behind - further from the viewer
- Inside - contained within something
- Outside - not contained within something
